A1 Local Media Alt Audit adds a focused admin page under Media for reviewing image attachment alt text.
It helps editors and site owners find image alt text that is:
- Missing
- Filename-like
- Generic
- OK
The plugin keeps the workflow manual. It does not auto-generate alt text, call remote services, collect analytics, or claim accessibility compliance.

Privacy
A1 Local Media Alt Audit reads local WordPress attachment records and attachment metadata. It does not create custom database tables, store plugin-owned settings, call remote APIs, or transmit data off the site.
If a user updates alt text through the plugin, the new value is saved to WordPress core attachment metadata under _wp_attachment_image_alt.
Installation
- Upload the
a1-local-media-alt-auditfolder to/wp-content/plugins/. - Activate A1 Local Media Alt Audit from the Plugins screen.
- Go to Media > Alt Audit.

Does this plugin generate alt text?

No. It only audits existing attachment alt text and lets permitted users update it manually.

Does this plugin guarantee accessibility compliance?

No. It is a workflow helper for reviewing image alt text. It does not guarantee WCAG, ADA, or any other accessibility compliance outcome.

Does this plugin send data to A1 Local or any external service?

No. The plugin makes no remote calls and does not collect or transmit site data.

Who can access the audit page?

Users with the
upload_filescapability can view the page. Updating an image also requires permission to edit that attachment.
