## Description

Sympose is a WordPress plugin for conferences. Sympose makes it easy to create pages
for conferences in WordPress. You can easily create schedules for events, and link
the individual sessions to speakers and sponsors.

**Sympose Quick Start**

After activating Sympose, you can start shaping your event right away with the Quick
Start!

### Shortcodes

Below you’ll find some Sympose shortcodes. You can also find specific shortcodes
for your event in Sympose -> Shortcodes (in the WordPress dashboard)

#### Shortcode example for displaying people

    ```
    [sympose type="person" category="speakers" event="sympose" description="false" name="true"]
    ```

This will display people from the category speakers and the event “sympose”.

#### Shortcode example for displaying a schedule

    ```
    [sympose type="schedule" event="sympose"]
    ```

This will display the schedule for the event “sympose”.

#### Shortcode example for displaying organisations

    ```
    [sympose type="organisation" category="sponsors" event="sympose"]
    ```

This will display organisations from the category sponsors and the event “sympose”.

Check out other shortcodes (after creating posts and categories) in the Sympose -
> Shortcodes menu.

This plugin really amazed my expectations. I tried several other plugins but most
of all where not what I was looking for, too complex or too expensive. Though there
was a small problem with a functionality, after contacting the support it was fixed
within one day. Thankss!

### 󠀁[Great in theory](https://wordpress.org/support/topic/great-in-theory-6/)󠁿

 [revdean](https://profiles.wordpress.org/revdean/) August 3, 2020 1 reply

Sympose has been great in theory but needs some help. major issues need to be addressed
regarding: Accessibility of tables, alt text, sessions, etc. Customization is way
too difficult. Example: adding different color headers to different days of a schedule,
customizing schedules for accessibility. The schedule keeps defaulting and creating
issues for multiple day events. One day may be right but the other 2 are way off
and there isn’t an intuitive way to fix this either through ordering or parenting.
This is a problem. Requesting codes and help from Sympose directly: I have contacted
Sympose *9* times via email and phone for help with writing code snippets or getting
shortcodes. I received *0* replies from them on any issue. I also paid for some
of their extensions that didn’t work but received NO HELP or even a CONTACT BACK.
All in all I would tear this plugin out of my site and rebuild the whole experience
if I could but my deadline is too tight. I would feel better if Sympose had been
responsive in getting back to me but they left me on “read” like a spurned ex-GF.
Not cool. I’d say save your money but its free so instead save your aggravation.

This is a much needed plugin for conferences to show agenda and speakers. Best part
is the developers are incredibly responsive and add new features requested on a
regular basis.
